GovFest for Entrepreneurs 2012: What Government Can Do For Your Business

Posted by User Not Found on Nov 01, 2012
Meet Meredith Nelson, business librarian for the Johnson County Library, as she shares details on the upcoming GovFest.

Every year, the Johnson County Library has hosted GovFest as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week to ensure that business owners and startups have access to the government information they need to own and run a successful venture. Whether you're just getting started, need a leg up in getting a government contract, or you just have some questions about your business taxes, GovFest is an event you won't want to miss. There are many government and non-profit organizations to help you find the answers you need for your business.

Just this year, GovFest was the winner of a 2012 Bright Idea awarded by Harvard's Ash Center for Demographic Governance as part of the Innovations in American Government initiative. As part of the event, more than 60 organizations send representatives and about 600 people attend to get more information on their business.

GovFest will run from 10 am to 5 pm and will have representatives from government and non-profit agencies ranging from the Small Business Administration to the EPA and Johnson County Mapping services. In addition to having exhibits open from 10am-5pm, we're offering the following programs to help you get ahead:

  • Competing for Government Contracts
  • Reference USA Database Demonstration
  • Marketing your Small Business on Facebook and other Social Networks

Also, be sure not to miss Local Entrepreneurs Share Their Stories featuring stories by Sal Frustaci of New York Dawg Pound, Sherri Becker of The Marketing Department, and Rick Gier of the Law Office of Richard E. Gier.

So come on out to GovFest to meet with an organization and learn more about what government can do for your business. Visit our website for more details or follow us on Twitter to get updates.
