Each agency entered into an arrangement with DemandStar by using a master agreement negotiated through the Mid-America Regional Council. The DemandStar program offers participating vendors a number of advantages: - Learn about bid opportunities that specifically match your business.

- Get information the same day the Unified Government of Wyandotte County / Kansas City, Kansas or any other member agency posts their bids so you have more time to work on your proposals.

- Receive notices of all bids, download bid documents, and receive bid updates all from one central source.
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County / Kansas City, KS is pleased to offer you this program. However, vendors are not required to subscribe to the DemandStar system to obtain bid documents or to do business with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas. Vendors can continue to monitor the Echo, the Kansan newspaper, Unified Government Website, or contact the Purchasing Division regarding bid opportunities. Vendors choosing not to subscribe to the DemandStar system can download bid documents by registering with DemandStar. There is no cost for this service, however vendors will not be notified automatically of Unified Government bid opportunities. - For purchases between $1,000 and $10,000 the Unified Government’s departments or divisions must request a minimum of three competitive quotes and shall purchase based on the lowest quote meeting our requirements.
- Verbal or written quotations shall be used for purchases estimated to cost between $1,000 and $3,000. Written quotations shall be used for purchases estimated to cost between $3,000 and $10,000.
- Verbal and written quotations shall be solicited from a minimum of three vendors. At least one local (LBE) and one minority business enterprise or / women-owned business enterprise (MBW/WBE) will be solicited for each bid.
- For purchases $10,000 and greater the Unified Government shall publicly advertise and solicit through sealed bids.
- Competitive Sealed Bidding (BID): This method is used when the nature of the purchase permits award to the lowest acceptable bidder.
- Competitive Sealed Proposal (RFP): This method permits discussions with competing offerors and it allows comparative judgmental evaluations to be made when selecting among acceptable proposals. Typically this method is used for the purchase of services.
- Formal Bid and Request for Proposal (RFP) advertisements are published in The Echo and The Kansas City Kansan.
